Background/Alt Actions

BACKGROUND

The Los Angeles County Flood Control District (LACFCD) has requested an easement over the existing access driveway to the outlet structure of Miscellaneous Transfer Drain (MTD) 1598 Unit 2, referred to as Parcel No. 2FE shown on Exhibit “B”; and adjacent area, referred to as Parcel No. 1FE shown on Exhibit “B”. This easement would be located on a portion of the City of Santa Clarita’s (City) property approximately 400 feet south of Newhall Ranch Road and adjacent to San Francisquito Creek trail as shown on the attached location map.

Parcel No. 2FE is for the existing access driveway to the outlet structure of MTD 1598. MTD 1598 was transferred to the LACFCD on March 20, 2008. Due to constructability issues, the access road was constructed outside of the easement that was dedicated to the City and quitclaimed to the LACFCD.

Parcel No.1FE will be used by LACFCD to access its existing easement located within San Francisquito Creek as shown on the attached location map.

The LACFCD is requesting to acquire the easement for flood control purposes and is requesting the City to convey these rights in consideration of the benefits derived from the ongoing maintenance by the LACFCD within the proposed easement. The easement dedication and the ongoing maintenance of the outlet structure will not impact the City's ownership interest within San Francisquito Creek.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION
